Plugin and Theme Updates
Obviously, updates are a fact of life when using WordPress. Updates to themes, plugins and even the core of WordPress happen all the time. Most weeks, we end up updating 5-10 plugins every week across client sites.
We perform weekly updates across all Concierge client sites each week - usually on Mondays.
From time to time, when I enter a client’s site in order to answer a question or continue project work, I will manually do updates while I’m in there.
If I receive word of a security vulnerability on a plugin used by some of my Concierge clients, I will often perform a proactive update in order to alleviate the issue and protect the security of client sites.
As a client, your site is your’s. This means, you are welcome to perform updates on your own if you would like. Unlike some companies, we don’t disable a client’s ability to perform actions on their own site. Of course, you don’t need to do any updates if you don’t want to. That’s part of Concierge. However, you can if you would like and are getting antsy to update something we run our usual rounds of weekly updates.
If a plugin being used is not being licensed through the Concierge Toolkit, then either you will need to enter your own license code for that plugin or I can attempt to update it manually. In some cases, I can gain access to plugins that I don’t hold an official license to and can update your plugin anyway. But, there’s no guarantee of updates in the event of a non-licensed plugin not covered in the Toolkit.
If you are ever concerned that updates are not occurring on time or have a question about updates, never hesitate to reach out and ask. With rare exception, we do updates on a weekly basis. So, if you notice updates haven’t take place in 2-3 weeks, there may be something amiss so definitely reach out.
